The Music Ministries at St. Peter's are comprised of many musicians who lovingly give of their talent and time to serve God. All ensembles and choirs exist to assist and facilitate the congregation of St. Peter's to experience God through the mysterious and beautiful language of music, in worship, service and fellowship. All choirs and ensembles rehearse regularly throughout the school year.
Adult Choirs
The Adult Choir is open to all adults. This choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:20 - 9:15 p.m. in the Terrill House, and leads worship at the 10:30 a.m. service each week, September through June. In addition, this group sings at all major feasts and seasonal services, as well as special events and seasonal concerts. Director: Helen Cantrell. Assistant: Alan Arbabi.
The Adult Handbell Choir is open to all adults, as well as high school students. An ability to read music is preferred, but no previous bell experience is necessary. This choir plays during various worship services, as well as special events. This choir rehearses on Monday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. weekly, September through May. Director: Helen Cantrell.
Children's Choirs
The Children's Choirs of St. Peter's meet each Wednesday Evening, September through April. All choirs sing / play periodically at the 9:00 a.m. service and the 10:30 a.m. service at St. Peter's, as well as seasonal concerts and special services and feasts. In addition, all choirs participate in the annual Christmas Pageant on December 24th.
The Cherubs Choir is open to children ages four (as of September 1) through kindergarten, and rehearses from 6:30 - 7:15 p.m. Director: Rita Raleeh. Assistants: Joy Potrykus, Corie St. Clair and Linda Hapke.
The Canticle Choir is open to children who are in the first through fifth grades, and rehearses from 6:30 - 7:15 p.m. Director: Yvonne Telep. Assistants: Jeannie Phipps, Elsie Kadera and Angie Morrell.
The Youth Handbell Choir is open to youth grades 4 through 8, who have previous enrollment in the Children's Bell Ensemble and / or are currently in other music studies such as piano or band. All participants must read music and pass a minimum skills test. This choir plays during various worship services, as well as special events. This choir rehearses at 5:00 - 5:45 p.m . in the Nave. Director: Helen Cantrell. Assistans: Will Harris, Monika Kriechbaum and Yvonne Telep.
The Children's Bell Ensemble is open to all children grades 2through 5. This group works develops both musical understanding and reading, mechanical knowledge of bells, and performance techniques. This choir plays during various worship services, as well as special events. No music reading skills or minimum skills test required. Stednet will be expected to learn these skills in the Fall semester however. All grade school students who read music but have not played in a bell choir before, should reenroll in this ensemble. This choir rehearses at 5:00 - 5:45 p.m . in the Parish Hall, Room 8 & 9. Director: Elsie Kadera. Assistants: Joy Potrykus and Corie St. Clair.
The Children's Christmas Pageant is open to children ages kindergarten through fifth grades, and is directed by Helen Cantrell, Cindy Preece and Ashley Bates. Casting meetings begin in late October, with several rehearsals in December. The Pageant is presented during the 5:30 p.m. Christmas Eve Mass.
