LAY READERS

The Lay Reader Ministry is truly a ministry of the people of St. Peter's. To participate you must be a confirmed communicant in good standing, at least a Junior in high school and have a love of joy in sharing the Word with your fellow parishioners.

Certification is not required in order to be a Lay Reader. We do not vest for any of the services. We represent the congregation---the laity. Reading requires clarity and feeling---not acting! It is a communion shared verbally.

One reader will read both the Old and New Testament Readings, the Psalms, and the Prayers of the People. The Parish will be asked to add their own petitions at the proper time during the Prayers of the People. The readings are emailed to the readers before you are scheduled to read. The Lay Reader helps the congregation as to the correct responses. This is very important for the unity of the service.

There are four services in which you can participate in this vital ministry:

Wednesday 5:00 Rite II
Sunday 8:00 Rite I
Sunday 9:00 Rite II
Sunday 10:30 Rite II

Please contact Steve Powell at 972-542-4097 or stevepowellactor@yahoo.com if you have an interest in being a Lay Reader. A brief training period is required. Peace be unto you.
