HEALTH MINISTRY

St. Peter’s Health Ministry’s goal is to encourage whole person health through knowledge and personal responsibility.  Health is viewed as optimal health, not perfect health.  The recognition of the inter-dependence of physical, mental and spiritual is the basis of the Health Ministry’s approach.

The nurses and health board plan activities within St. Peter’s and as an outreach to the greater community.  Preventive health activities have been offered as blood pressure screening and flu vaccination program.  Educational programs to a variety of age groups have been presented.  Annually the mandatory hearing and vision screening has been performed for Holy Family School.  Blood drives are held three times a year which in turn offers parishioners a supply of blood if an emergency arises.  A new venture in reaching out to the community for residents of local long-term facilities is being initiated.

Anyone interested in information on or working with the health ministry, please contact Carmen Shannon, Patty Short or Betty Breyfogle (b-breyfogle@attbi.com).
